Accessible Tech is proud to be an approved Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) vendor,  providing Texas families access to communication tools that support children’s language, learning, and independence.

Through TEFA, eligible Texas families can use their TEFA account (powered by Odyssey) to access Accessible Tech products.

TEFA helps families cover approved educational tools that support a child’s learning plan, including assistive communication solutions.

  1. You're a Texas resident
  2. Your child is school age
  3. Your child is enrolled in or planning to enroll in a qualifying education setting

How to access Accessible Tech products through TEFA

If you’re already approved under TEFA, you can search for Accessible Tech products directly through your TEFA account (powered by Odyssey).

If you do not have an account, you can do the following.

Apply

If you've not yet applied, you'll need to head over to the TEFA website and complete the application. 

Get approved

If eligible, funds will be deposited into your TEFA account (powered by Odyssey).

Choose product

Choose Accessible Tech's available products: TippyTalk or Talkido by searching through your TEFA/Odyssey account.

Can I use TEFA funds to cover Accessible Tech products?

Yes! Accessible Tech is an approved provider under TEFA program. You can purchase TippyTalk AAC app or Talkido through your TEFA/Odyssey account. 

What happens after I purchase an Accessible Tech product through TEFA?

After you purchase TippyTalk or Talkido through TEFA, you'll receive all the information you need to get started using the new tools.

What is an AAC speech app?

AAC apps can help to give a nonverbal or speech-impaired person a way to be understood quickly. This helps resolve frustration, shortcut emotional outburst, and helps the parent and child feel connected. A second goal is to show the child, in real time, how their need is expressed in language. It models speech for them while helping them feel better for being understood.

TippyTalk is a unique AAC app designed for non-verbal and speech-impaired users. It serves as a TWO-WAY communication tool that allows users to create simple sentences by selecting illustrations. These sentences can be READ ALOUD (speaking function) or SENT directly (texting function) to a member of the user’s private community, who can RESPOND with text, audio or video.

TippyTalk helps children and teens with speech impairments communicate their needs, thoughts, and emotions in an accessible and effective way. When you use your SUFS funds, you receive a license to the TippyTalk app with no additional subscription fees.

Is TippyTalk fully funded?

Yes, TippyTalk is completely funded for eligible individuals who apply for TEFA. After you apply and are approved, funds will be deposited into your Odyssey Account. From there, you can use your funds to choose TippyTalk or Talkido to support your loved ones needs.

There are no hidden fees or costs, making it an excellent resource for families who need support but can't afford new tools.

When purchasing TippyTalk through TEFA, there are no subscription fees to use the app.

How do I know if my loved one qualifies?

If you’re a Texas resident, your child is school age and eligible under TEFA guidelines, and your child one is enrolled in or planning to enroll in a qualifying education setting (private school, homeschool, or other approved option), you may qualify.
