Step Up for Students Partnership with Accessible Tech

Accessible Tech is proud to be an approved Step Up For Students (SUFS) vendor, offering families in Florida access to innovative speech and language tools. Through this partnership, eligible Florida families can use the Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA) to access Accessible Tech products at no cost to them. 

This collaboration is about more than technology, it’s about unlocking potential and creating meaningful communication for families across Florida.

We provide Florida families with accessible technology that helps children with communication challenges learn, grow, and connect. Our products are designed to remove barriers, support independence, and give families the tools they need to thrive.

Who's eligible?

Program Eligibility

You may qualify for the FES-UA scholarship if:

  1. You're a Florida resident
  2. Your loved one is aged 3-22
  3. Your loved one has a qualifying diagnosis (e.g. speech impairment, autism, or other unique abilities)

Income is not considered for FES-UA eligibility. For full details, visit the Step Up for Students website.

How to access Accessible Tech products through SUFS

If you already have an account with SUFS, you can search our products in the MyScholarShop.

If you do not have an account, you can do the following. 

Apply

If you've not yet applied through MyScholarShop, you'll need to head over to the SUFS website and complete the FES-AU scholarship application.

Get approved

If eligible, funds will be deposited into your Education Account via the individuals EMA portal.

Choose product

Choose Accessible Tech's available products: TippyTalk or Talkido by searching through MyScholarShip.

Can I use SUFS funds to cover Accessible Tech products?

Yes! Accessible Tech is an approved provider under the FES-UA program offering the TippyTalk AAC mobile app and Talkido interactive kits for eligible families.

What happens after I purchase an Accessible Tech product through MyScholarShop?

After you purchase TippyTalk or Talkido through the MyScholarShop, you'll receive all the information you need to get started using the new tools.

What is an AAC speech app?

AAC apps can help to give a nonverbal or speech-impaired person a way to be understood quickly. This helps resolve frustration, shortcut emotional outburst, and helps the parent and child feel connected. A second goal is to show the child, in real time, how their need is expressed in language. It models speech for them while helping them feel better for being understood.

TippyTalk is a unique AAC app designed for non-verbal and speech-impaired users. It serves as a TWO-WAY communication tool that allows users to create simple sentences by selecting illustrations. These sentences can be READ ALOUD (speaking function) or SENT directly (texting function) to a member of the user’s private community, who can RESPOND with text, audio or video.

TippyTalk helps children and teens with speech impairments communicate their needs, thoughts, and emotions in an accessible and effective way. When you use your SUFS funds, you receive a license to the TippyTalk ACC app with no additional subscription fees.

Are tools fully funded?

Yes, Talkido and TippyTalk are completely funded for eligible individuals who apply for the FES-UA scholarship through SUFS. After you apply and are approved, funds will be deposited into your Education Account. From there, you can use your funds to choose the TippyTalk AAC App or one of three Talkido Interactive Kits to support your loved ones needs.

There are no hidden fees or costs, making it an excellent resource for families who need support but can't afford these tools.

How do I know if my loved one qualifies?

If you’re a Florida resident and your loved one is between the ages of 3-22, you’re eligible.
